A Mom, Her Kids & Technology

Tiffany Banas is a 31-year-old mother of two. Her boys Luke and David, are 2 and 6 years old. Tiffany is happily married to her husband Dave and they both have similar parenting styles and thank technological advancements for their kids lavish lifestyles.

Both the boys have tablets that they are constantly playing games on. David has his tablet in bed with him until 9:00, and Luke has to give his up at 7:30 when he goes to bed. Tiffany monitors the boy time with the tablets so that they can get a good nights sleep.

During the day, the boys are allowed their tablets for part of the day, but for the other part she makes them either play outside or play in the house with toys if the weather outside is bad. This teaches the boys that life doesn’t revolve around technology.

She believes that social media can be an effective and informative learning tool as long as it is used properly.

Tiffany explains her love for technology and how it can help her boys by giving them opportunities that she didn’t have growing up. A lot of schools are technology driven now because of all the advancements, and Tiffany believes that this creates a greater learning environment for the kids and enhances their depth of learning greatly.

If more people thought and acted as though Tiffany did with technology and her children, technology could be used for it’s real purpose. We could stop blaming kids for their lack of social skills by realizing that it’s the parents and how they raise their kids with the advancements in technology.
